Sex fascinates me. So much so that I’m writing a Masters thesis on the subject.
Most of us exist because… sex.
Sex forms the basis for a lot of cultural conversations and societal disagreements. Sex has inspired stories and songs, started wars and made history.
Someone once said: Everything is about sex, except sex. Sex is about power.
And through my research, I’ve found that everything can be drawn back to sex. The study of sex is also a study of art and culture, of economics and politics.
There are so many fascinating things happening in the world of sex — the advancement of sex tech and the digitisation of relationships, controversies in pornography and mainstreaming of sex media.
In Southeast Asia, the landscape is even more complex with stories that have largely gone untold.
The Sex Beat is a way for me to #LearnInPublic.
