📚 Bibliographies: 000 – A Quick Introduction

It might be obvious to you, but in case it isn’t – I read a lot. Not just because I want to, but sometimes (often), because I have to.

There’s reading for work, typically 1) to stay up to date on specific industries and 2) to find out more about a particular topic I’m writing about. And then there’s reading for fun – mostly fiction, but usually in line with my work / research interests.

But what Bibliographies will be mainly concerned with is the reading I do for my academic research. This includes news and feature articles, journal articles, theses, books and book chapters, and more.

Lots of the things I come across for research are so fascinating and I am lowkey sad that I don’t always have the opportunity to highlight them in the main section of The Sex Beat.

Some examples:

  • this journal article comparing metaphor use on mom blogs written by evangelical Christians and Latter Day Saints

  • this newsletter issue about how a Mormon “second generation influencer” talks about sex on her public channels

  • the fifth chapter from Rosalind Galt’s amazing book Alluring Monsters, in which she explores a “pontianak theory of the forest”

I’m not sure what systems or formats – or if there will even be a format – for the issues in this section. So let’s see how this goes.

If you’re reading, thank you. And do let me know if there’s any way I can do better.
